Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage: Colossians 1:9-10*
9. For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not
stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through
all spiritual wisdom and understanding.
10. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the
Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the
knowledge of God,
Questions
The Colossians certainly would have had their share of life's
problems: hunger, poverty, sickness, persecution, dissention and temptations to sin.
1. Paul could have easily prayed for any one of the above problems,
but what did he pray for?
2. What was Paul's purpose in praying how he prayed?
Practical help
There's no denying that the fight against sexual temptation is a
defensive struggle. But it's also true that sometimes the best defense is a good offense.
Paul knew the Colossians had many challenges he could have prayed
for, like health and safety or even happiness and prosperity -- but what did he pray for?
He prayed that they might know God and his will for them. Paul knew that the more they
knew God and his plan for them the more enabled they would be to live lives worthy of the
Lord and pleasing to him.
If the standard defensive tactic is letting you down in your battle
with a porn habit then strike up a little offense by seeking to know God and his will for
your life. The more you grow in the knowledge of his will for you, the stronger you
defense will be against those things that aren't in his will.
Like Paul did for the Colossians, we here at eXXit are praying that
God will fill you with the knowledge of his will for you.
