Passage:
Galations 2:20* (the
Apostle Paul speaking to the Christians in
Galatia)
I have been crucified with
Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the
Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for
me.
Question
What happened to Paul when
he was "crucified with Christ"?
Practical
help
When Paul decided to
become a Christian, his sinful nature died. In Paul's
words, it was "crucified." A new, redeemed nature
began living in his body.
Paul probably doubted this
transformation from time to time. After all, he still
sinned. He had to remind himself that the old nature
was gone. Hence his line: "The life I live in the
body, I live by faith."
Paul set a good example for us
Christians who wrestle with smut. Paul would advise
that the struggles aren't because our sinful natures
still operate (they're history). Instead, there are
other reasons we sin, as the next several studies will
explore.
Meantime, let's take Paul's
words to heart. No matter our sins, let's remember
to believe that we have new, redeemed natures.
Otherwise, we'll lose hope in
ever standing strong against porn.
