Passage:
James
1:13-15*
13. When tempted, no one
should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be
tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;
14. but each one is tempted
when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and
enticed.
15. Then, after desire has
conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is
full-grown, gives birth to death.
Questions
1. According to this
passage, where does temptation come from?
2. What does temptation
become?
3. What is the consequence of
sin?
Practical
help
You have probably heard
the adage, "The Devil made me do it!"
That may be what you are saying
about yielding to the temptation of viewing Internet
pornography, but this passage indicates that the
desire is coming from within you.
There is good news for
you if you are caught up in this addiction. With God's
help, you can overcome the evil desires and not be
dragged away and enticed by them.
Many have overcome this
temptation by turning to God and finding Christian
friends who will pray for them and hold them
accountable.
Don't let temptation drag you
down to sin and death. Let God bring you up to new
life.
