Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Matthew 5:6*

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled"

Questions

1. What hungers and thirsts drive your life?

2. How can Jesus' words help you properly attune your appetites?

Practical help

One of the key ways Christianity differs from Buddhism -- the morality of desire -- is one of the most common ways believers capitulate to the Eastern party line.

After all, Buddhism, not Christianity, says that desires are bad. Ergo, Buddhists strive to rid themselves of desire altogether. And Christians who apply "dying to self" to all desires follow in their footsteps.

Jesus offers an alternative view. Hunger and thirst, he says, for righteousness. In other words, deeply desire righteousness.

Perhaps one of the reasons we pursue negative desires -- such as Web porn -- comes from our lack of spiritual passion. So the next time pornography tempts you, redirect that desire into prayer -- and stick with Christian Christianity.
