Passage: Colossians 3:1-2*

1. If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

Questions

1. What do you think it means to be "raised up with Christ?"

2. How do people set their minds on something?

Practical help

If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, then you can replace the "if" at the beginning of verse one with "since." So it could read for you, "[Since] you have been raised up with Christ."

Is your life a reflection of the absolute fact that you are a new creature in Christ? Look at what Paul says a few verses earlier in Colossians 2:13-14*:

13. And when you were dead in your transgressions [sins, mess-ups, pornography, gross immorality, etc.] He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

14. having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Your mistakes no longer hold you. If you confess them to the Lord, they are nailed to the cross. This is what Jesus has done and continues to do for you and me.

Don't loose sight of the fact that Jesus is right now seated at the right hand of God. This means you have a friend who holds the power and authority to redeem and clean you. See Him there in your mind. Set your mind on Him and as the old hymn says, "the things of this earth [including pornography] will strangely fade away."
