Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help
you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage: Proverbs 28:1*
The wicked man flees though no one
pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
Questions
1. What causes people to flee
something?
2. What makes for boldness in people?
Practical help
Porn messes with your brain, teasing you
to believe something that's not true or doubt something that
is.
Take fear. Does porn try to make you afraid of someone who
doesn't exist? For example, have you ever hastily abandoned a Web porn
site, fearing someone was entering the room when no one really
was?
Other times, does porn try to make you unafraid of
something that is actually dangerous? For instance, have you ever
indulged in the false intimacy of Web smut, jeopardizing real
relationships or the potential for them?
Thank God for Proverbs
28:1 that warns about groundless fear while pointing to the source of
true boldness — namely righteousness.
And what in turn is the
source of righteousness? Scripture says it's faith in God. Numerous
passages, for example, attest to Abraham's faith and resulting
righteousness, which in turn produced exemplary boldness.
Want
boldness to resist the lies of porn? Trust God and the power of his
Word to teach you truth from falsehood. Sooner or later, this trust
will pay off, emboldening you to spit at porn's lies and split from
their power.
And if you can't yet split from the lies, there's
at least one thing you can do: Spit at them.
