Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: 1 Corinthians 3:1-3a*

1. And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ.

2. I gave you milk to drink, not solid fool; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able,

3a. for you are still fleshly.

Questions

1. How long have you been a Christian?

2. Do you have people in your life who are helping you grow spiritually?

3. When it comes to understanding the Bible, how much do you know? Are you growing daily? Do you hunger to learn more and more?

Practical help

One of the reasons you might be struggling with pornography is the fact that you haven’t grown spiritually. You want God to "save" you from your habits, but you also don’t want to exert any effort to grow closer to God. If this describes you, then understand you are not seeking maturity but relief from guilt. Basically you want God to pull you out of a tight situation, but you don’t want Him to go too far. I guess the basic question you have to answer is, "Whose life is it anyway?" If it is your life, then you can do with it as you please, but if you have given it to God, which was what you had to do to receive Christ as your savior, then you don’t own it anymore. Not convinced? Look at 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

What was the price? Christ’s death on the cross. Need more information about this? Click here.

But you say you know all this already and you still can’t kick the porn habit? Imagine at your age if you had to still get nourishment from your mother’s breast like a baby. Is that an ugly picture or what? Yet that is exactly the condition of a Christian who refuses to grow deeper in his or her walk with God by reading the Bible, attending a Bible-centered church and finding brothers and sisters in the Lord to share burdens with. Life in Christ is indeed free, except it is supposed to be a new birth which ultimately transforms us into mature men and women of faith. Porn is a childish thing and has no business in the growing Christian’s life. Put it away.
