Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passages: John 13:34-35, John 15:12, 1 Thessalonians 4:9, 1 Peter 4:8*

John 13:34-35

34. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

35. “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 15:12

"This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you."

1 Thessalonians 4:9

Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;

1 Peter 4:8

Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

Practical help

In an automobile engine, oil is the lubricant that keeps the engine running. Without oil, “thermal breakdown” occurs. The engine overheats as friction increases, piston rings scrape cylinder walls. The engine finally seizes.

Love is the “oil” that lubricates the “machinery” of our souls. Without love, we run the risk of “thermal breakdown” and our lives don’t “work” as God has planned.

One of the symptoms of a loveless life is the frantic searching for love - in all the wrong places. In Scripture, we discover two places a person can go to find love. One, he can go to God. Over and over again, God assures us that He loves us. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). If you have never tasted the love of God by placing your trust in Jesus Christ, you can do that now. (To find out more about becoming a Christian click here.)

The other place where a person SHOULD be able to reliably find love is in the church of Jesus Christ. With all of its warts and blemishes, the church, the organism made up of God’s sons and daughters through faith in Jesus, is to be a place of love.

If you have been looking for the oil of love in wrong places, among them inappropriate web sites, porn video and magazines, turn away from them and turn to Christian fellowship. The love for which your soul thirsts will be satisfied by the pure love of fellow Christians (and sisters, especially if you are a woman) in Christ. Love is not only the lubricant that oils our souls, it is the hacksaw that breaks the shackles of porn addiction!
