Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Deuteronomy 30:14*

No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.

Question

How could this verse help you resist temptation?

Practical help

"Trust me."

This may be the most mocked phrase in the English language, conjuring up memories of crooks from every sphere of life — including politics, religion and business.

But many Christians can think of a more scandalous phrase: "Trust you." For them, the heart is so corrupted by sin that you can't possibly trust yourself. They probably haven't read Deuteronomy 30:14.

The word is near us so that we can obey it. Bear in mind, this pro-heart statement appears near the beginning of the Old Testament, before the prophets spoke of the promise of the redeemed heart, before Jesus brought that promise to fruition and before the apostle Paul celebrated that promise.

Now, in your heart, you know the evil of pornography. Don't you? Right.

Okay, next step. The good news of Deuteronomy 30:14 is that God has given you everything you need to obey the dictates of your heart. Ask for his help, and you will enjoy success against temptation.

Trust me.
