Keywords: "Admonish" "one another"

Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passages: Romans 15:14*

And concerning you, my brethren, I myself also am convinced that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able also to admonish one another.

Questions

1. According to this verse, what is the character of a Christian?

2. According to this verse, does the average Christian suffer from a lack of information?

3. According to this verse, what is the Christian able to do for other Christians?

Practical help

Christians are not perfect, by any means. Ask anyone who knows a Christian! However, a Christian IS filled with goodness. There IS, within the redeemed heart, a passion to help, to love, to reach out, to serve.

As well, any Christian you can name is filled with sufficient knowledge to be of genuine service to others. There is always more to learn, but what every Christian knows RIGHT NOW is enough to enable them to be useful for Jesus.

Now, a benefit of being an equipped, big-hearted Christian is that every Christian is enabled to “counsel.” That is what “admonish” means. It means that YOU can be therapeutic in the lives of your fellow Christians (and if you are not a Christian but would like to find out how to become one, click here). AND it means that your fellow Christians can be used by God in your life.

Perhaps you need the admonishment/counsel that could come from another Christian in the matter of porn addiction? Hiding shamefully and hoping the temptation will go away won’t work. Fighting the temptation alone probably won’t work, either. Why not reach out to some competent counselors who are Spirit-changed and Spirit-filled? Your brothers in Christ will be your best coaches in the game of following Jesus. They will help you break the porn habit.
