6. And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart;

7. and you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

8. And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.

9. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Practical help

It’s not enough just to give our children information and expect them to embrace what we say. Our example and way of life is what they will most likely follow and emulate in their own lives. If you want to see your kids live pure lives, free from the grips of porn, your example will make all the difference and reinforce the teaching of your words.

Here are a few points for you to consider in preparing our kids to face the reality of a pornographic world:

  1. Talk with them about God’s loving and wise standards of purity, His grace and forgiveness, and the dangers of sexual sin.
  2. Be honest in appropriate measure about your own struggles with pornography, past and present. Be sure to talk about how God has worked in your own life with genuine humility. Don’t hide your failures. Vulnerability on your part may open healthy dialogue and save them from disaster.
  3. Protect them from porn. Isolation and restriction may not be the best means of protection for every child. Ask God for wisdom to understand the best way to prepare your children to make choices for purity as they grow up.
  4. Pray for them!
The battle for their lives and futures is real — Satan wants to crush them. Your continued involvement with porn will have devastating consequences in their lives. They need for you to make choices for purity today. So my friend, take action and seek the Lord’s help right now and resist the temptations to log on to that Web site or watch that program or let your mind fantasize. Jesus will help you. His heart is for you and your children.
