temptation.
Passage: Mark 1:35*
And in the early morning, while it was still dark, He arose and went out and departed to a lonely place, and was praying there.
Questions
1. Why did Jesus get up early to pray when life was so busy?
2. What would this kind of time in prayer do for you?
Practical help
The Bible gives us this picture of Jesus out in a quiet and lonely place before daybreak in prayer with the Father. This verse comes sandwiched between references describing busy days of ministry, filled with demands and stress. Jesus understood the need to be alone with His father. He knew about how fellowship with the Father would infuse His heart with the strength and joy needed to face the demands of the day.
In our battle against the temptation of Web porn there is probably nothing more practical that we could do than taking time to be alone with God. Nothing will do more to change our heart. It sounds simple but in reality it can be very difficult, especially if we are feeling estranged from God because of porn use. Take courage in knowing that He accepts you in Christ and that His forgiveness and cleansing are for you.
Take some time to get away from it all and be alone with God. You may need to begin your time with Him by confessing your sexual sin. You will be strengthened for the battle and your heart will be refreshed.
