Passage: Romans 6:14*
For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
Questions
1. What does it mean to live under grace instead of law?
2. Which approach — law or grace — do you apply to your struggles with pornography?
Practical help
The Taliban troops imprisoned in Cuba raise an interesting question: Are the captives prisoners of war or are they "unlawful combatants"? If the former, they deserve all the protections of the Geneva convention. If the latter, they deserve no quarter.
Words matter. In the case of the Taliban troops, they could mean the difference between life and death. For believers, words can keep us from living dead lives. "Grace," for instance. Paul makes a definitive case for grace as the true state of a Christian. He doesn't hedge that clear worldview with words like "enslaved" or "hampered" or "limited." It's all grace, all the time.
Put that meaningful word to work in your struggles against pornography. Remember, you're not under fear of judgment. You're only under protection of grace. Let God's goodness motivate you to freely choose righteousness.
After all, sin is not your master. Live to honor the one who is.
