After five and a half chapters of recounting the sinful ways of the people of God in the land of Judah, the prophet Micah points out what God requires. It's really pretty simple. Passage: Micah 6:8* He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God? Questions 1. Most countries hold "justice" to be a valued commodity. Most people do, too. How would you define "justice"?   2. Think of some examples of situations you are aware of where justice is lacking.   Practical help Look up "justice" in a dictionary and you'll find something like: "the proper and reasonable administration of law." Sort of abstract. Kinda cold. Yet when Micah wrote that God's people were to "do justice," he had hot-blooded, concrete action in mind. At various places in his book, he urges us to treat people fairly. Don't cheat by using false scales. Uphold the rights of the vulnerable. Jesus rephrased Micah' message into this: "Therefore, however you want people to treat you, so treat them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 7:12) — the Golden Rule. How might you and I bring Micah's words and Jesus' words to bear on our struggle to remain sexually pure? Try this — Ask yourself questions as you are tempted to "click" on to a porn site, questions like these: 1. Does the money made by this site go toward "just causes"? 2. Are the men and women photographed being treated justly? 3. Would I want a son or daughter to be photographed in the ways the people I am tempted to view have been photographed? (Remember, everybody is somebody's son or daughter.) Porn violates justice and Jesus' Golden Rule. A little clear-headed, God-honoring thinking about treating people right before sitting down at the computer will work wonders in your fight for purity.
