Passage: Luke 17:7-10*
7. "Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after
the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, 'Come along now
and sit down to eat'?
8. Would he not rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready
and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink'?
9. Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do?
10. So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do,
should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty'".
Questions

Practical help
Americans like to talk about our rights. After all, our nation was
founded on the notion we had a right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness."
Jesus remains unimpressed. To him, the Christian life is a duty to
embrace, not a right to choose.
Apply his tough talk to pornography. We should expect battles to
rage. We should respond accordingly. And we shouldn't always pat ourselves on the back for
a job well-done.
The next time we're congratulating ourselves for looking at porn
only twice this week, we should recall Jesus' words. Despite the Declaration of
Independence, it's our duty to serve God wholeheartedly.
