Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

This is the fifth part in a six-part series on the “Wheel Illustration” (a link to a picture of the Wheel can be found later in this study). The Wheel depicts how Christians can experience the full life Jesus promised to his followers in John 10:10 (“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”). For folks struggling with Internet porn, the illustration shows one more thing: how to give the slip to smut. This study looks at one spoke of the wheel, witnessing.

Passages

Matthew 4:19
"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

Romans 1:16

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Questions

1. What are the two actions described in Matthew 4:19, and who is responsible for them?

2. What power is described in Romans 1:16?

Practical help

In preceding studies, we reviewed four key truths:
1. Jesus inhabits you. If you're a Christian, he occupies the hub of your life. See the Wheel, Part 1.

2. Jesus empowers you with wisdom from the Bible. The Scriptures are how Jesus talks to you. Like a wheel spoke, they radiate power from the hub. See the Wheel, Part 2.

3. Jesus hears your prayers. Prayers are how you communicate to Jesus. Like the Bible, they're a wheel spoke connecting you to Jesus. See the Wheel, Part 3.

4. Other believers can help you stand strong in the faith. They spur you to love and good deeds. Fellowship is yet another wheel spoke strengthening your life. See the Wheel, Part 4.

There's a fifth vital truth:

Telling other people about Jesus bolsters your own faith. As they explore the way to a full, victorious life, your own confidence in the power of the Gospel grows.

So if you have idle time and are tempted to view Web porn, divert the time to helping others — and yourself — grow in faith. The process will help you stand strong.
