Passage: Psalm 107:1-9*

1. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

2. Let the redeemed of the LORD say this — those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,

3. those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.

4. Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle.

5. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away.

6. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.

7. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle.

8. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men,

9. for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

Do you feel like your heading in circles when trying to give the slip to porn?

Practical help

Sometimes it's really helpful to take a Psalm (or part of one) and read it once for its contextual message, then read it again, only this time weaving in your present circumstances where they fit.

Try reading the verses from the Psalm above and weave in your foe — possibly porn's temptation — and weave in your desert wastelands — maybe the vast Internet.

Now let verses 6 to 9 have their effect on you.

The Lord has unfailing love for you. He will lead you by a straight path out of that wasteland. He will satisfy your thirst and fill your hunger. And He will do it with good things.
