Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: 1 Timothy 1:5*

But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

Question

Let’s focus on love from a pure heart today. What do you think that means and what does it look like in someone’s life?

Practical help

"I need this!" the voice inside us says. This is how we justify harmful actions like viewing pornography. "It will make me feel good." "It will help me forget for a moment my problems."

Sound familiar?

Our culture has a wrong sense of what love truly is. We are told and shown love as an object to be received. This sort of idea can justify the use and abuse of other people in order for us to get the love we believe we so desperately need.

True love as described in the Bible is demonstrated by selfless action. To be "pure", love can’t be just a form of tricky manipulation (I’ll behave nicely so he or she will have to give me love). It was best demonstrated when Jesus allowed Himself to be nailed on a cross. When we discover that this act was done on our behalf – as individuals – we can begin to enter into loving others in His name (as Jesus would want us to love).
