Passage: Psalm 19:8* The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. Questions 1. When was the last time your heart was filled with joy?   2. How would you describe enlightened eyes?   Practical help If there are some good things I'd rather be experiencing at any given moment, I'd say that at least two of them would be a "rejoicing heart" and "enlightened eyes." How about you? When I look at these two things I wonder how a pornography habit might effect them. Will giving in to a lust's demand to view some sexually arousing images make your heart rejoice, or does it leave it dejected? Will looking again and again at pornography open and enlighten your eyes, or will it systematically mar their ability to see things that are pure and honorable? These are evaluations that you have to choose to make. If you do choose to make them, then be honest with yourself. Today's verse gives you two things you won't have to evaluate to know that they're good: The Lord's precepts (His principles) and His commandments. God gives them (in His word, the Bible) to you not to stifle your life but to add rejoicing and enlightenment to it. Read and ponder them.
