Passage: Genesis 1:4*

God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

Questions

1. Why does God bother labeling light as good?

2. How could labeling pornography help us avoid it?

Practical help

A recent trip to New Orleans provided a lexicographic axiom: Casinos have successfully morphed the negative word "gambling" into the family-friendly word "gaming." Now everyone describes one-arm bandits as gaming machines, likening a massive program of wealth redistribution to a leisurely spin around the Twister pad.

Likewise, pornographers don’t sell smut anymore. They peddle “adult entertainment.” Or “marital aids.” Or “pay-per view.”

God isn’t fooled. As Genesis 1:4 demonstrates, the Creator can tell the difference between light and darkness — even if darkness was falsely advertised as “dim light.” Follow his example and apply a truthful label to pornography: trash.
