Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Philippians 4:6-7*

6. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

7. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Question

1. Paul says to not be anxious for anything. Are you ever anxious about things? What sorts of things are YOU tempted to become anxious about?

2. If not by becoming anxious, how does Paul say that requests are to be handled by the Christian?

3. What does Paul say will be the result when we forsake anxiety and bring our requests to God in prayer?

Practical help

Repeated failures in our lives can lead to great anxiety. Men (and women, too) who have slipped and fallen many times on the banana peel of involvement with porn can become anxious that they will never find the way out, that they have failed once too often, that God will not forgive them, that there is no hope of ever finding freedom.

WRONG! Put that anxiety behind you and replace it with bold prayer. Thank God - for temptation? NO!! Thank Him for the privilege of bringing your requests to Him. Thank Him for deliverance from the penalty for sin by the death and resurrection of Jesus. Thank Him for the peace that is just around the corner.

Then, in a spirit of thanksgiving - ask Him for deliverance from the grip of porn on your life. God blesses a thankful man (or woman) who comes with an honest request to live a clean life with “peace.” And what is “peace” but the “shalom” of God - wholeness, a life of integrity. Deliverance begins with bold prayer.
