Keywords: "find” “seek"
Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

This is the second in a series on some practical elements of prayer: Ask, Seek and Knock. Part two — looking for the answers.

Passage: Matthew 7:7-8*

7. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

8. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Questions

1. What do you think Jesus is telling you to seek?

2. What does he say will happen?

3. Why do you think we need to seek?

Practical help

This command from Jesus will evoke a tinge of irony for the porn struggler: "seek and you will find." The first thought might be — That's how I keep getting into trouble. The difference here is that Jesus is telling you to seek the will of God instead of seeking to satisfy sinful desires. He tells you that if you ask him for help, then seek his answer, you'll find victory, not defeat. You might not find victory today, or even next month, but if you keep seeking victory, you will find it. There's a team of victors who are cheering you on, so ask, and then seek.
