Practical
help
Much of what Paul writes
about in this portion of his letter to the Christians
in Ephesus has to do with what every believer has
already received in Christ. In this verse it’s
redemption. Paul’s readers would have immediately
recognized the word redemption to be a term used to
describe the practice of paying a price for the
release of a slave. Our redemption from slavery has
been purchased by Jesus through His death and the
shedding of His blood.
It may be hard to accept, but
the Bible clearly teaches that God has forgiven all of
your sins, even the ones you have not yet committed.
If you are a child of God then you are in Christ, and
if you are in Christ then He has made full and
complete atonement for all of your sins. Jesus did
that for you according to the riches of His grace!

toward porn use in the past several days or if you are
currently feeling stuck in smut, be encouraged by the
truth of God’s unconditional forgiveness. Take a

1. Agree with Him about
your use of porn — call it what it is,
sin.
2. Thank Him for His
forgiveness of your sexual sin and all other
sins.
3. Commit to talking
truthfully about your porn struggles with someone
you trust.
4. Rest in His grace as one
freed from sin.
