long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?
23. If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my
heart to you and made my thoughts known to you.

What's the connection between "simple ways" and
"mockery" (verse 22 above)?
Practical help
Doing dumb things when you know better is what "simple
ways" (see verse 22) is all about.
But how does this happen — doing dumb things when you know better? What makes it
possible to deaden good judgment in order to indulge stupid, even sinful, stuff such as
Web smut?
The passage above identifies a powerful deadening agent: mockery. It's what happens when
people make fun of truth, nobility and honor, and when they scorn folks who stand for such
values.
No wonder smut has an easy way with some people. Somewhere, sometime, they may have
laughed at values that oppose it.
If you want to stand strong against porn, stand up for values that champion human dignity,
self-esteem and pride. Don't laugh at them. Otherwise, porn will have the last laugh
— on you.
