Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Today's study is part of a short series on grace as exemplified in the first few verses of Proverbs chapter 9.

Passage: Proverbs 9:1-6*

1. Wisdom has built her house;
she has hewn out its seven pillars.

2. She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine;
she has also set her table.

3. She has sent out her maids, and she calls
from the highest point of the city.

4. "Let all who are simple come in here!"
she says to those who lack judgment.

5. "Come, eat my food
and drink the wine I have mixed.

6. Leave your simple ways and you will live;
walk in the way of understanding.

Question

Who's doing the heavy work in this passage?

Practical help

I like Professor Gerhard Forde's definition of grace: It's God invading our space — not we invading God's.**

Judging from the passage above, wisdom is grace's expert accomplice.

Check out how wisdom reaches out to fools — "those who lack judgment."

Is this God invading our space or what?

This is good news for porn strugglers.

We hear so much about how we're supposed to get closer to God that we forget that God's getting closer to us.

So sit back, be quiet, and listen to God's approaching wisdom. God's calling from the highest point of whatever culture you're living in.

Otherwise, like we said above, sit back, be quiet, and listen.
