Today's study is part of a short series on grace as exemplified in the first few verses of Proverbs chapter 9. Passage: Proverbs 9:1-6* 1. Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out its seven pillars. 2. She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine; she has also set her table. 3. She has sent out her maids, and she calls from the highest point of the city. 4. "Let all who are simple come in here!" she says to those who lack judgment. 5. "Come, eat my food and drink the wine I have mixed. 6. Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of understanding. Question Who are the "simple" in verse 4 above?   Practical help In the previous study, we saw how wisdom, in an act so typical of God's grace, invades our space (see verse 3 above). But who are the "simple" whose space wisdom is invading (verse 4)? Could "those who lack judgment" include us porn strugglers? How would you answer? Are you a simpleminded porn user? It takes courage to answer yes. Only if you identify with wisdom's audience — "those who lack judgment" — can you enjoy wisdom's empowering food and wine, the tastier alternative to smut. On the other hand, to deny your simplemindedness — to rationalize or excuse your use of smut — is to turn up your nose at your best and only chance to escape porn.
