Passage: Isaiah 1:18-20*

18. "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.

19. "If you consent and obey, You will eat the best of the land;

20. "But if you refuse and rebel, You will be devoured by the sword." Truly, the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Questions

1. In the three verses above, the prophet Isaiah is quoting God. What is Isaiah's conclusion after passing the message along?

2. In your own words, what is God saying? What does this have to do with reasoning together?

Practical help

If you believe God exists, it alters your understanding of life from the smallest sub-atomic particle to the largest solar system. No longer can you rely on your "logic" to put it all together. No longer is it reasonable to conclude that pornography is harmless just because you say it is.

If God exists, it is His choice, not ours, whether He chooses to communicate with us. He holds all the marbles. Yet God, through prophets like Isaiah, says to humanity, "Come let us reason together." This is an invitation to meet. What are the conditions? "Even though you have messed up, I can make you clean." God says, "You choose to come, and I will remove your sins from you. But if you choose to run from Me, I will let you go."

Fortunately you don't need to call His secretary and make an appointment. He is where you are right now and you two need to talk. See you tomorrow.
