Passage: Ephesians 6:12*

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Questions

1. Are you struggling with pornography?

2. According to this passage, is your struggle really with pornography, or something else?

Practical help

First, let’s be clear that this passage is dealing with Christians, those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their only way to heaven and the only way to having an abundant life here on earth. If you are not a Christian or are not sure, click here.

When in a war, it’s important to pick your side. To stand in the middle is to be shot at from both sides. Once you have picked your side, it’s important not to fight with the people around you, but to reserve your energy for the true enemy or enemies. If you become distracted and turn your attention away from the real battle, you can be clobbered and bring dishonor to yourself and your Lord.

If you think porn is a passive innocent activity, and yet maintain to others that you are a Christian, something is terribly wrong. You are being deceived. Just because Jesus took your place on a cross you deserved doesn’t mean following Him is without cost. Basically it is the same commitment a soldier would give when joining an army. You must be willing to give up your life. To play with pornography is a form of desertion because you are moving away from a Christian world view and accepting the world’s standard in it’s place. More on this tomorrow. Have a great day.
