Practical help
It's a standard sitcom gag. Beaver/Arnold/Frasier tries to do something nice for somebody, only to have the entire plan backfire. You know you've seen an example of the genre when the aggrieved character responds, "[Beaver/Arnold/Frasier], you have a funny way of showing x."
Pornography is our funny way of seeking intimacy with God. It comes with all the emotions of worship but venerates the wrong object. Lucky for us, the true object of our devotion is never far away. As Deuteronomy 4:7 points out, God always remains near to us.
The next time you feel tempted by pornography, follow the advice of that verse and pray to the God who will never leave you or forsake you. Pray for opened eyes to see his presence — and an open heart to feel the intimacy you crave.
