Passage: 2 Samuel 22:1, 28-29*
1. And David spoke the words of this song to the Lord in the
day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and
from the hand of Saul.
28. And Thou dost save an afflicted
people; but Thine eyes are on the haughty whom Thou dost
abase.
29. For Thou art my lamp, O LORD; and the LORD illumines
my darkness.26.
Questions
1. Who does God save and who does He abase (demote or
downgrade)?
2. What does it mean that God is like a
lamp?
3. What are some examples of darkness people might
need illuminated (or exposed)?
Practical help
If you are viewing internet pornography, you have fallen into sin.
The good news is God saves the afflicted. Some will not see it as a
big deal and will decline God's offer. Their future will turn one day
(if it hasn't already) and begin to spiral down.
God not only
saves the afflicted, He is a lamp that will illuminate sin in our
lives. He does this because He loves us too much to allow us to remain
in a sinful weakened state. Give up pride and stop hiding behind
excuses that you can solve the problem of sexual addition by your
self. Pray that the Lord will guide you to those who can help. He will
be your lamp.
