Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Numbers 11:1*

Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the LORD burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.

Questions

1. How did God deal with sin in the Old Testament?

2. How does he deal with it now?

Practical help

Believers who long for the days when God rewarded and punished every act must skip over passages like Numbers 11:1. So much for the good old days.

Imagine if the first time you clicked onto a porn Web site, your monitor bloomed like a supernova and consumed you in a fiery conflagration. Thankfully, God took a less coercive approach after Jesus entered the scene. Now he implants the Spirit within us and lets matters take their course.

The proper response to God's grace is not license. It's praise for second — and fiftieth — chances. And it's turning away from that which dishonors God.
