Passage: 2 Samuel 22:1, 30-31*
1. And David spoke the words of this song to the Lord in the
day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and
from the hand of Saul.
30. For by Thee I can run upon a troop;
by my God I can leap over a wall.
31. As for God, His way is
blameless; the word of the LORD is tested; He is a shield to all who
take refuge in Him.
Questions
1. "Run upon a troop" in verse 30 can also be translated, "run
through a barricade." In your own words, what does this verse mean?
What is God's relationship to the overcomer?
2. What does "His way" mean in verse
31?
3. How is the word of the Lord tested?
Practical help
Internet pornography and other sexual temptations can critically
wound the Christian who desires to walk with God. As you attempt to
clean up your life you will discover how fierce the battle really is
for your soul. The promise found in these verses is that God can give
you the strength to break through the barricades and scale walls that
appear impossible to climb in your own strength.
It is also
helpful to note that God's words will be tested. Expect resistance
whenever you seek to do what He commands you to do, but remember, He
is your shield. Stay close to Him.
