temptation.
Passage: Romans 13:13*
Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.
Questions
1. Why should we "behave decently"?
2. How can we be decent regarding Web porn?
Practical help
Polish physicist Marie Curie helped discover radium, only to plumb the depths of its power when overexposure ended her life in 1934.
Likewise, Web porn has a radioactive effect on the soul. Prolonged exposure leads to spiritual blindness, moral numbness and annihilation of the self. How could it not? Smut's relentless self-centeredness seals off all avenues of communication with others and with God. And it's single-minded appeal to the sexual drive trumps the basic human goods of life, family and friendship.
But just as radium can also cure, exposure to godly people and ideas strengthen the soul. That's what the apostle Paul has in mind in Romans 13:13 — a way of life that embraces the pure and rejects the perverse. Decide today to live a life characterized by decent exposure.
