Practical help

Listening to the right voice is so important, especially in critical moments. The military recognizes this and uses the following game as a training exercise for its people.

The object of the game is to direct a blindfolded man to sit down in a chair without touching it. Simultaneously, several people shout instructions to the blindfolded person. They can do anything but touch the man. Only one person in the group has the man’s interest at hand. All the rest are deceivers, shouting the wrong directions. The goal of the truthful person is to get the blindfolded man to listen to and trust his voice only. All others shout bogus directions, trying to get the blindfolded man to sit down with no chair under him. Through careful concentration, the blindfolded man is able to listen to the voice of the person giving truthful instructions, and ignore the other’s shouting. If he listens carefully to the right voice, when the blindfolded man sits he’ll find a chair under him.

Jesus encourages us to listen to His voice in the midst of many competing voices. We can train ourselves through careful concentration to hear Him only and ignore the others. The pull of Web porn may be one of those deceiving voices for you. Don’t listen to it today.

Jesus knows you and me. We’re safe with Him forever. We belong to Him and can count on Him to protect us. If we follow His voice we never need to fear. He is never going to deceive us or direct us to sit where there is no chair.
