Practical help

A middle aged man returned home to care for his dying father. After the funeral, the son became very depressed over the truth of his motivation for why he had returned. On the outside it appeared to all that he had done it because he loved his father. On the inside, however, he knew he returned not to care for the one who loved him, but to secure the inheritance.

God has given us everything from the very moment we became one of His children. The inheritance is already secure. He has given us everything pertaining to life and godliness so we can be free to seek the Father for the sake of the Father alone. If we keep thinking that there is something else to get out of God, then we will be tempted to seek Him for something other than Himself.

He gives us everything from the beginning. If you go to God today, you go, not to get something from Him, but simply because you want to fellowship with Him. Everything — if you are interested in things — has been given to you. Fellowship is a relationship and renewed everyday. There are no strings attached. There can’t be because He has already given you everything pertaining to life.

Take that truth into your personal battle with porn today. Enjoy your relationship with the Father in the knowledge of His grace and gift to you. Your delight will be in Him alone.
