Passage:
Psalm 139:1-18*
16. Thine eyes have seen
my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all
written, the days that were ordained for me, when as
yet there was not one of them.
17. How precious also are Thy
thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of
them!
18. If I should count them, they
would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still
with Thee.
Questions
1. Are you a planner? Do
you give thoughts to the day's activities?
2. Can forethought play a role
in overcoming a porn habit?
Practical
help
How will today play out
for you?
When I don't give much thought
to the day ahead I find that I'm particularly
susceptible to distractions. It's like I'm flying
without a flight plan or sailing without charts
very easy to get lost.
Porn can sneak up on us on days
like that. It can catch us off guard because we
haven't given any forethought to what we need to guard
against.
Today's passage gives us real
food for forethought. In fact, it's a great passage to
commit to memory or put up on the refrigerator because
it's regenerating. Knowing that God planned the days
of our lives before we were even two cells merged into
one is amazing. What's even more amazing is that a God
who wields that kind of power gave us His thoughts to
ponder for guidance and direction.
Start your day with reflections
on God's thoughts (which He has richly revealed in the
Bible), and you'll find that few things will catch you
by a "negative" surprise. His thoughts will give you
some punch to pound porn out of the days
ahead.
