Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

The following is one of 42 studies on the "armor of God" as it relates to resisting Web porn. Some of the studies will examine Ephesians chapter six, which is famous for the armor theme. Some of the other studies, however, will examine how the armor pieces are discussed elsewhere in Scripture. All 42 studies are listed in the three-minute study index for the dates April 1 through May 12, 1999. Feel free to study and/or download the entire set. We welcome your feedback to this thematic approach in the three-minute studies.

Passage: Hosea 10:12-13a*

12. Sow with a view to righteousness, reap in accordance with kindness; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD until He comes to rain righteousness on you.

13. You have plowed wickedness, you have reaped injustice, you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your way,

Questions

1. What do you think it means to sow with a view to righteousness (v.12)? What happens when you do?

2. What happens when you plow wickedness by trusting in your own way (v.13)?

3. What needs to happen before we can even see righteousness?

Practical help

Where do you see yourself in 6 months? How about a year? Two years? Ten years? To answer these questions you have to think about few things:

  • Where am I now?
  • What do I like or not like about my life?
  • Do I want to change?
  • Am I prepared to change?

If in your reflection you decided that struggling with pornography is one of the things you don't like, do you want to change?

The prophet Hosea likened our lives to a garden or a grain field. If we sow our seeds without a vision of what we want to become, then as many bad things will take root as good. But, if we sow our seeds with a view to what God can make us -- righteous -- we'll reap according to His kindness and love and He will rain down righteousness on us.

How do you obtain this view to righteousness?

  1. Recognize that you need to change.
  2. Prepare to be changed by the only one who can change you -- Jesus Christ.
  3. Ask Him to change you. (If you don't know how, click here.)

Now get ready for a bumper crop of righteous change!
