Passage: Psalm 1:1-2*

1. How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.

Practical help

To most people, even Christians, this is a very strange thought – to be "delighted" by law. To understand, you have to see that he or she must be in love with the author of the law first. Then it makes sense. To understand God is to understand life as it truly is.

Just because someone accepts Christ as his or her Savior does not mean a path of continued spiritual growth or insight. It takes faith to pursue God. It takes faith to turn off pornography and other counterfeits to an honest relationship with the Lord. It’s fine to have passion and desire, but make sure the object is worth your attention.
