Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

The following is one of 42 studies on the "armor of God" as it relates to resisting Web porn. Some of the studies will examine Ephesians chapter six, which is famous for the armor theme. Some of the other studies, however, will examine how the armor pieces are discussed elsewhere in Scripture. All 42 studies are listed in the three-minute study index for the dates April 1 through May 12, 1999. Feel free to study and/or download the entire set. We welcome your feedback to this thematic approach in the three-minute studies.

Passage: Mark 1:1*

The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Questions

1. How has the concept of “gospel” affected your life?

2. How might gospel change your response to porn?

Practical help

Mark is the only biographer of Christ who calls his writing a “gospel.” (Matthew, for example, calls his account a “book.”) The term means “good news,” and Mark’s Jesus lives up to the billing -- a Suffering Servant who gives His life as a “ransom for the many” (Mark 10:45).

But Christ’s good news is not limited to eternal redemption. He also offers His followers release from besetting struggles. For anyone caught in the trap of Web porn, this promise is good news indeed.

Today, trust Jesus that the good news extends even to your deepest problems. And as you find victory over pornography, “go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you” (Mark 5:19).
