Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

The following is one of 42 studies on the "armor of God" as it relates to resisting Web porn. Some of the studies will examine Ephesians chapter six, which is famous for the armor theme. Some of the other studies, however, will examine how the armor pieces are discussed elsewhere in Scripture. All 42 studies are listed in the three-minute study index for the dates April 1 through May 12, 1999. Feel free to study and/or download the entire set. We welcome your feedback to this thematic approach in the three-minute studies.

Passage: John 14:27*

"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."

Questions

1. What two things does Jesus say he will do with his peace?

2. How might the peace Jesus offers be different from the peace the world offers?

3. What will the peace of Jesus enable you to do?

Practical help

Have you recently tried to resist a temptation to view Web pornography and failed?

How did you feel afterwards? Angry? Troubled? Guilty? Disgusted? Maybe even afraid of what God thinks of you now? Probably anything but peaceful.

Jesus tells us that following Him isn't going to be easy. In fact He lays it out pretty plainly:

Mark 8:34* -- Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."

This doesn't look much like a road map to a peaceful life, or does it?

Jesus is offering you a way to clear your head and your heart of the "post failure" guilt and fear.  This peace He gives you, He also leaves with you. It's there to call upon. It's there to help you take the next step toward beating temptation. It's there to let you know that no one's keeping track of how many times it's beat you!
