Passage: Mark 8:22-26*

22. Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him.

23. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.

24. And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

25. Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.

26. Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town.”

Questions

1. Who brought the blind man to Jesus?

2. How is your dream life?

3. Do you see images in your mind you wish would go away?

4. To Christians: Do you ever get discouraged with your thought life and use it as proof that you are not a child of God?

Practical help

Sometimes our damaged spirits are restored in stages. If you have been viewing pornography for a long time, expect flashbacks.

In your prayer life, you may be seeking to know Jesus better and see him as he truly is, but it may be that when you try to do so, porn images flash into your mind’s eye. When this happens, don’t panic, but pray for Jesus to continue to touch you until your pure vision is restored.

What is pure vision? It’s seeing the world as Jesus does. It’s seeing people, not as objects, like trees, but as temples made by God to contain the Holy Spirit Himself.

Take this thought with you today as your real identity in Christ: “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19*).
