Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

The following is one of 42 studies on the "armor of God" as it relates to resisting Web porn. Some of the studies will examine Ephesians chapter six, which is famous for the armor theme. Some of the other studies, however, will examine how the armor pieces are discussed elsewhere in Scripture. All 42 studies are listed in the three-minute study index for the dates April 1 through May 12, 1999. Feel free to study and/or download the entire set. We welcome your feedback to this thematic approach in the three-minute studies.

Passage: Romans 1:16; 8:32*

1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

8:32 - He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

Questions

1. The apostle Paul writes in Romans 1:16 that he is "not ashamed" of the Gospel. Try to picture something or someone you are not ashamed of. Picture something or someone you are proud of!

2. The verse says that there is something specific about the Gospel that prompts Paul to be unashamed. What is that something?

3. According to Romans 1:16, what does the Gospel have the power to do?

Practical help

Let’s get REAL practical and ask one question - "What is the Gospel?"

The Gospel is the message that tells how people who have sinned can find forgiveness.

The Gospel is the message that tells how people who are Hell-bent can become Heaven-bound.

The Gospel is the message that turns slaves of sin into sons of God.

The Gospel is incredible good news! It reports that Jesus suffered the wrath of God so that you and I would never have to. It reports that the love of God is so intense that God willingly sent His own Son to suffer for you and for me - and that the Son willingly came to die!

Now, if God cared for you so much that He sent His Son to die for you, does it not make sense that He would also with the gift of Jesus grant you the power (remember, the Gospel comes with power!) to resist temptation? Of course it does. Next time you are tempted to click on to porn, remember the Gospel. Remember that you are the special object of God’s love. Remember that you are God’s son. Empowered by the truths of the Gospel, walk away from that stuff!
