Passage: Mark 15:27-32*

27. And they crucified two robbers with Him, one on His right and one on His left.

28. [And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And He was numbered with transgressors."]

29. And those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Ha! You who [are going to] destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

30. save Yourself, and come down from the cross!"

31. In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking [Him] among themselves and saying, "He saved others; He cannot save Himself.

32. "Let [this] Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, so that we may see and believe!" And those who were crucified with Him were casting the same insult at Him.

Questions

1. If your opinion of Jesus is not very favorable, you are not alone. Note the variety of people who mocked Him at His crucifixion.

2. On the other hand, perhaps you have a high opinion of Jesus. Does your understanding of His sacrifice result in changes in your behavior on a daily basis?

Practical help

Many say that they would believe in God if He would simply perform a special miracle for them.

How hard could this be for God — if, of course, He is really God…?

May I suggest that the fact that Jesus even went to the cross, let alone remained there, is miracle enough. The rabble and religious crowd mocking Jesus as He hung there made it abundantly clear what they thought of Him. What they didn’t realize was that as He hung there He was making it abundantly clear what He thought of them too.

Don’t try to make sense of God’s love. It is beyond our ability to comprehend. He died for the most unworthy, and this includes those who actually nailed Him to those wooden beams.

A part of sexual addiction and recovery is an enormous feeling of shame. Perhaps you struggle with this even this moment. You believe you have let everyone down including God and yourself. You think that Jesus or God the Father is disappointed in you.

The facts do not support your feelings or opinion. Take a look at Jesus on the cross. He could have performed a miracle and freed Himself from the suffering. Instead He chose to hang there to take your shame. It was His plan so that you could walk away clean, free from sin and guilt, into a brand new life. And this ability to clean your life comes as a gift every day as you need it, and will continue to do so every moment of every day for the rest of your life. And it is not conditional on your mood or ability.

When you think about, this is the miracle you have been waiting for, but it is your choice to accept it or walk away. If you need more information click here.
