Rather than fighting temptation head-on — the equivalent of a frontal assault — today's passage suggests another approach: thankfulness. "Consider what great things he has done for you." Well, we can do that. Our lives, families, friendships, work and play all come from the giver of all good things. But it's no accident that the command for thankfulness follows another command: "Be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart."
