Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him
as righteousness.
Questions
1. Why is Abram’s action worthy of mention?
2. How could we imitate him in our struggles with Web porn?
Practical help
What’s missing in the passage cited above is what Abram could
have done to earn righteousness. He could have worked really hard to please God, hoping
that God would appreciate the effort. Instead, he had faith.
There’s a lesson here for us. In our battle against pornography, faith is the key.
But how can we use it?
Let me suggest one possible way. At the very least, faith means believing that God can
help us overcome our compulsions. Start praying that God will give you confidence in your
ability to resist Web porn. Then get a friend to pray with you. Armed with the shield of
faith, you will stand a better chance against your foe -- and God will be pleased.
