Passage: Psalm 103:3-4*

3. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases;

4. he redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with love and compassion.

Questions

1. What does this passage say God does for believers?

2. Can the way we feel change any of those things?

Practical help

Emotions tend to hamper the Christian life. Though no one can denigrate the euphoria we can feel in worship or prayer, how much more often does depression plague our lives — especially when we struggle with pornography?

Today's passage offers a way out of our emotional tailspin: remembering God's view of us. Turns out that God forgives, heals, redeems and crowns us regardless of the way we feel. Theologians call these items "ontological" — things that don't change depending on our disposition.

Live out of these Psalm 103 truths instead of riding your emotions into untruthful despair over pornography.
