Passage: Matthew 17:20*
for truly I say to you, if you have faith as a
mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it shall
move; and nothing shall be impossible to you.
Questions
1. As far as seeds go, a mustard seed is one of the smallest. How
potent, then, is a little faith?
2. In this passage Jesus used a dramatic example to explain the
power of faith in Him and doesn't expect you to go around moving mountains. What do you
think He wants you to move?
3. According to this passage, is there any struggle (like a porn
addiction) that faith can't help you overcome?
Practical help
Are you looking at a struggle with pornography and seeing it as an
insurmountable mountain standing between you and a life free of its insidious grasp? Does
it seem like every time you set out to tackle it you slip and fall back? Do you wonder if
you'll ever get past the struggle?
These questions will continue to beat you up for as long as you
think the battle is just between you and 'the mountain.' When it's just you and the
mountain, the mountain wins.
Jesus wants you to be in the mountain-conquering business and He's
provided you a very potent resource to start you on you way -- faith
in God!
God's love for you is so powerful that if you just believe and trust
Him (have faith in Him) you will be equipped to move that mountainous struggle behind you.
