Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
This is the second of a
twelve-part series designed to help you build a
strategy for ongoing sexual purity. The first six
parts are being posted this month, and the last six in
late May.
Passage:
Proverbs 5:18-20*
18. Let your fountain be
blessed, And rejoice in the wife of your youth.
19. As a loving hind and a
graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all
times; Be exhilarated always with her love.
20. For why should you, my son,
be exhilarated with an adulteress, And embrace the
bosom of a foreigner?
Questions
1. How is the sexual
relationship of two people shared in marriage
described?
2. How careful are you about
becoming involved with persons of the opposite sex who
are not your spouse?
3. How is Web porn use like
becoming involved with someone else?
Practical
help
God created us with
legitimate needs for intimacy, and to deny these needs
may make us even more vulnerable to sexual temptation.
For married persons, intimacy with ones spouse
must be primary. But married and single persons alike
need healthy, godly relationships with others.
Intimacy and sexuality are not the same.
God also created us to share
sexual intimacy exclusively within the bonds and
protection of marriage. Porn use, lustful fantasies
and inappropriate emotional or physical involvements
with someone other than our spouse is likened to
adultery in the Scriptures. Faithfulness and sexual
exclusivity is the best way! Dont let the
stresses of life rob you of the rich, satisfying
relationship God intends for you according to Proverbs
5:18-20.
Action Point 2:
If married, make your relationship with your
spouse your highest priority. If single, seek to
build deep, godly relationships with trusted
friends.
