Passage: Matthew 5:14-16*
14. You are the light of the world. A city set on
a hill cannot be hidden.
15. Nor do men light a lamp, and put
it under the peck-measure, but on the lampstand; and it gives light to
all who are in the house.
16. Let your light shine before men
in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your
Father who is in heaven.
Questions
1. How does Jesus describe those who know Him in
these verses?
2. What is the result of letting our light shine
for Jesus in this world?
3. What does Web porn use do to the effectiveness
of a Christian’s testimony?
Practical help
People living in the world today desperately need
to know the hope of the Gospel. Jesus came to give life and light to
lost and needy people. As His followers, we are light in the world and
Jesus seeks to live His life through us. That is a most amazing
privilege and honor!
Pornography use diminishes the impact we
can have among those who need to know Christ. It numbs a Christian’s
spiritual senses and replaces spiritual vitality with feelings of
failure and guilt. God’s heart is grieved and Satan exalts over the
discouraged believer.
Don’t play into the enemy’s hands today
when you are assaulted by the temptation to go after Web porn. Turn
your eyes upon Jesus and remember that YOU ARE LIGHT in this world.
Jesus lives in you. Go ahead and let your light shine brightly for all
to see today. Others will be drawn to the Lord Jesus in you and God
will get the glory.
