This is the third of a twelve-part series designed to help you build a strategy for ongoing sexual purity. The first six parts are being posted this month, and the last six in late May. Passage: Colossians 3:3-5* 3. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. 5. Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. Questions 1. What is true about your life now that you have believed in Jesus?   2. What happened to the old you?   3. What should you consider as being true in regard to your new life in Christ?   Practical help You may be involved in some overtly sinful practices such as thoughts, fantasies, feelings and actions which stimulate or gratify you sexually. You may also add to that some seemingly harmless practices that do not necessarily contribute to a holy life. These might include thoughts, fantasies, and feelings which are less explicit than those first mentioned. They may include TV programs and magazines which are not overly pornographic, but which you know appeal to the flesh. These activities may be permissible according to 1 Corinthians 6:12, but in time you can be enslaved to them, without realizing it. They cause you to set your mind on the flesh rather than on the Spirit as described in Romans 8:5. By God’s grace we have a new life in Christ. He’s not working to make you and me better, He’s done the work in Christ to make us new creations! Our life is now hidden in Christ — He is actually our life, and we can now walk in the truth that we have died to sin and the evil practices of the flesh. Action Point 3: Recognize what sinful practices you are or have been involved in, and as a new creation in Christ, consider yourself to be dead to those things.
